Your First Retro Bowl Season: What to Do in the Front Office Before Week 1
Published · 1 min read
Pick a bad team on purpose
Retro Bowl starts by offering every franchise. The weakest ones have the most cap room and the highest draft pick, and both are worth more than a decent roster. Take the worst team with a decent stadium.
The training facility comes first
Your first coaching credits go on the training facility, not the stadium and not rehab. Training raises every player's growth every week; the stadium raises fan support, which you can raise by winning; rehab only matters once someone is hurt.
Draft the quarterback
The draft happens before week one. A quarterback with high accuracy and arm strength makes every receiver on the roster play above his rating. Take one in round one even if the roster has a bigger hole elsewhere; the hole can be filled in free agency.
Free agency for the line
Veterans are the fastest way to fix a position. Spend what is left on the offensive line: sacks and pressures come from a weak line and no amount of throwing skill fixes a collapsing pocket.
Then coordinators
The offensive coordinator levels up the offense; the defensive coordinator is the only control you have over a defense you never play. Both are cheap relative to what they do.
